PTI slams centre for KP CM’s exclusion from NSC
In the meantime, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry asserts that the government did not invite Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mahmood Khan, to the NSC meeting.
Chaudhry said in a statement that the Taliban leadership only has Imran Khan’s trust.
He continued by stating that Pakistan’s need for elections and the improvement of the economy as well as the elimination of terrorism necessitate consensus.
‘Pakistan’s interests to be secured at all costs’
The NSC meeting decided on Friday to intensify the pressure on militancy by taking relentless countermeasures and preventative measures to eliminate any threats the country may be facing.
The PM Office said in a statement that the NSC participants unanimously agreed that Pakistan’s national interests would not be compromised and that no one would be permitted to undermine national security.
The infamous Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) announced the end of the ceasefire with Pakistan and increased attacks on security forces, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, prior to the meeting.
According to the statement, the participants of the meeting reviewed the economic and security situation of the nation.
With bravery and a long-term strategy, the government and other state institutions decided that Pakistan’s fundamental interests in existence, security, and progress would be well protected.
“Unequivocal opinion was expressed to defend the country’s national interests and prevent anyone from undermining the fundamental concept of national security,” according to the statement.
The meeting’s attendees also expressed their condolences to the families of the martyrs and paid tribute to their great sacrifices.
The meeting came to the conclusion that terrorists are Pakistan’s foes and that the entire nation shares a common narrative of opposing terrorism.
“Those who challenge the state’s writ will receive a full-force response,” read the statement.
A spate of terror attacks
The most recent wave of terror attacks in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has brought about a new wave of terrorism in Pakistan over the past few weeks.
As the country fights a new wave of insurgency that has resulted in the deaths of numerous soldiers and the injuries of a number of others, the top brass of the Pakistan Army made a resolution on December 28 to eradicate terrorism “without any distinction.”
In addition, PM Shehbaz had reaffirmed his determination to utilize all resources to eradicate the terrorist threat.
The premier said he would do everything in his power to stop all forms of terrorism in the country.
Five soldiers were killed and more than a dozen others were wounded in seven separate blasts that occurred in districts throughout Pakistan’s southwestern province.
In the Bannu area of KP, militants also took control of a Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) compound last month. Three days later, Pakistan Army soldiers cleared the compound. However, ten soldiers were injured and four soldiers accepted martyrdom.
