THATTA: At least nine people including women and children were killed and more than 20 others were injured on Sunday when a passenger van collided with a truck in Thatta district of Sindh province.
According to details, the van was heading to Shahadat Kot from Karachi when the unfortunate incident occurred near Jharak in Thatta.
The dead include five children and three women. The injured were shifted to Hyderabad for medical treatment.
Pakistan has an appalling record for fatal traffic accidents due to poor roads, badly maintained vehicles and reckless driving.
Rescue equipment available to Pakistani emergency services is often basic. When crashes occur far from major towns, rescue efforts can take time and injured passengers have less hope of survival.
