KARACHI: (Dunya News) – New Chief Minister (CM) of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah has so far not been able to get the decisions on security implemented in the city. Every time there’s a major terrorist attack in urban or rural Sindh, Murad Ali Shah calls a meeting but it doesn’t seem to be helping so far, reported Dunya News.
According to details, Murad Ali Shah called 15 meetings on security situation during the last three months but the target-killing incidents have increased by 20% during the same period. He presided over 11 meetings, and all the meetings reached at important decisions. There’s always an order passed at the end of the meeting that the operation against the terrorists must be expedited.
However, the new CM could neither install a web of CCTV cameras in the city during the three months nor could he eradicate the drug dens. While there was an increase of 20% in the target-killing incidents in the city, the street crime situation is also the same. The claims of operations against street criminals are also laughing at the Sindh government right in the face.
The new CM could do nothing about the traditional policing, nor could he establish a new system of FIR. Despite his orders to the contrary, police officials wearing plain clothes can still be seen openly roaming the streets. There was no serious decline in the number of cars and motorbikes being stolen. The work on a modern forensic laboratory in Sindh did not even begin.
Nothing has been done to improve the system of investigation so far that would help criminals be brought to justice. Still only 6% of the criminals get sentenced by the courts. The issue of police being provided with latest weaponry is also facing red-tape.
Despite the 20% increase in target-killing incidents, the ratio of calling security meetings after major terrorist attacks is still the same.
