Scientists in Serbia have developed a scanner that can detect even traces of explosives on an individual’s hand, even after 100 handshakes.
The invention could make detection at airports and other transport hubs more accurate. The device is designed to detect traces of explosives in vehicles, in carry-on luggage and also in cargo, according to the SerbianTimes.
The scientists behind the laser say it has already been tested by experts from the Russian Interior Ministry and trials were held at a railway station in Russia.
The new laser was developed jointly by the Zuev Institute of Atmospheric Optics in Tomsk and the Institute for Problems of Chemical & Energetic Technologies of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Biysk.
