DERA MURAD JAMULI: On Monday, Malik Saleem Lehri, the Nasirabad Range DIG, announced that dacoits from Sindh’s katcha areas would not be permitted to seek sanctuary in any of Balochistan’s neighboring districts.
DIG Lehri stated that the divisional police and administration have implemented stringent security measures on the routes to prevent dacoits from crossing into Balochistan, at a press conference co-hosted by Nasirabad SSP Samiullah Malik.
In response to a question, DIG Lehri stated that the police had been placed on high alert at checkpoints in the border areas of the Nasirabad region to make sure dacoits from Sindh did not take refuge in any portion of the region.
He stated that the police in Nasirabad were implementing a comprehensive strategy to combat criminal groups that had previously infiltrated Balochistan from Sindh.
The announcement was made during a major operation against bandits being carried out by security personnel, including police and Rangers, in Sindh’s katcha areas.
He said that 118 offenders and runaways who had committed horrible crimes, such as highway robberies, kidnapping for ransom, and murder, had been apprehended.
DIG Lehri added that throughout the last two months, when police launched raids on drug smugglers, they had seized massive amounts of drugs valued at millions of rupees and arrested at least a dozen people, including drug dealers who were also participating in the drug trade.
Along with other automobiles and stolen motorcycles, illegal firearms were also found.
The DIG stated that a girl who was abducted from Punjab and taken to Nasirabad was also found by the police and later returned to her family.
He claimed that every effort was being made to keep the area law and orderly.
Following a sharp increase in kidnappings for ransom and robberies in these areas, the operation against dacoits was initiated in the riverine regions of Sindh and Punjab.
The National Action Plan Implementation Review Committee made the decision last week to begin a coordinated police operation by Sindh and Punjab against the infamous bandits.
