ISLAMABAD: Millat Tractors Ltd (MTL) has been instructed by the Ministry of Industries and Production to sell 954 tractors to farmers in accordance with the terms of the agreement and not to give these vehicles to any other party.
Following the ruling by the Sindh High Court, the ministry wrote to MTL informing it of its contractual duty to sell these tractors to the original purchaser.
A directive concerning the provision of tractors to farmers at the agreed upon rate of Rs1.25 million per unit, inclusive of five percent sales tax, has been issued by the SHC. Nevertheless, the MTL ceased providing to the customers who had made reservations and increased the price by Rs148,400.
The court decision stated that just 47 tractors were delivered, even though 1,001 customers paid in full. Consequently, the resentful farmers went to court.
The SHC ordered the MTL to stop selling 954 Model MF-240 tractors to any outside parties and to submit all vehicle information, including model, chassis, and engine numbers, to the court by April 16.
