RAWALPINDI: For the comfort of locals and cricket enthusiasts, the City Traffic Police (CTP) have devised a plan that calls for the deployment of 367 officers during the T20 matches between Pakistan and New Zealand at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from April 16 to 21.
According to a traffic police spokeswoman, special plans have been put in place to maintain traffic on other routes while the teams are playing and moving around.
He claimed that the police drew out a traffic strategy in accordance with Taimoor Khan, the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO).
He stated that throughout the matches, around 367 cops and wardens will be on special duty. The traffic workforce consisted of 318 wardens, 40 inspectors, seven deputy superintendents of police/circle in-charges, and traffic assistants.
Special arrangements have been made to maintain traffic on alternate routes, resulting in the deployment of additional troops.

Three locations have parking available for the convenience of cricket enthusiasts: Government Degree College Satellite Town, Shehbaz Sharif Park next to Shaheen Chowk, and Civil Aviation Ground Shaheen Chowk.
During the cricket teams’ arrival and departure from the stadium, Murree Road will be totally closed from Faizabad to Double Road. Traffic from Islamabad will be redirected to the highway via Faizabad.
While traffic from Ghousia Chowk will be rerouted to Farooq Azam Road, Kuri Road, outgoing traffic will be allowed to enter Islamabad via 6th Road, Saidpur Road.
In the meantime, traffic entering Rawalpindi from 9th Avenue will pass via Pandora Chungi, Katarian, Carriage Factory, Prodhai Mor, and Chak Madad in addition to Faizabad and the expressway. Murree Road will be used by traffic from Rawalpindi to Double Road and 9th Avenue Islamabad in order to access the city.
For the convenience of the public, the CTO said that awareness posters about detours and parking spots will be erected on major thoroughfares.

More than the security services and traffic police, the residents must cooperate to ensure the safety of the teams and the continuous flow of traffic in the city, according to the CTO.
