LAHORE: On Wednesday, Maryam Nawaz, the PML-N candidate for chief minister of Punjab, referred to politically driven vandalism and corruption as the “red lines” that her government will never permit anyone to breach.
Ms. Nawaz promised a new age of development in Punjab while presiding over her party’s parliamentary gathering at the Jati Umra house. She vowed to deliver on every front, particularly in the areas of health, education, and information technology.
After earning an overwhelming vote in the Punjab Assembly in the upcoming days, Ms. Nawaz will become the first female chief minister.
Although she was appreciative of the mandate her party received from the Punjabi people, she noted that five years would not be sufficient to handle the enormous problems the nation was facing.
