It was revealed on Thursday that at least ten persons had died in various instances in Mandi Bahauddin, Punjab, since March.
The occurrences occurred from March 16 to May 20, according to the first information reports (FIRs), copies of which are available at Dawn.com.
The victims of the incidents, who were slain in a variety of ways, including shooting, torturing, strangling, and poisoning, were under the authority of the police stations at Malikwal, Gujrat, Phalia, Pahrianwali, and Sadar Mandi.
The Pakistan Penal Code’s provisions 34 (common intention) and 302 (murder), among other provisions based on the specific incident, were applied to each case.
Thirty suspects—twenty named and ten unnamed—were included in the FIRs; the dead were five women, four men, and one unidentified victim.
Within the boundaries of the Phalia police station, 55-year-old Zahra Bibi and her 2-year-old daughter Zainab were discovered dead in their residence on May 20.
Locals discovered the front gate closed and discovered the victims’ bodies in different rooms when they entered the residence, according to the May 22 FIR. Zainab’s body had signs of strangling, and the bodies were several days old.
The complainant claimed that two unnamed individuals and Muhammad Ashraf were responsible for the killings.
Although forensic specialists were gathering evidence from the crime scene, District Police Officer (DPO) Mandi Bahauddin paid a visit to the residence.
Concerning the remaining nine victims, no one from the police could be contacted.
