Srinagar: Chairman Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik was detained at Pantha Chowk while he was on his way towards Redwani Kulgam on Tuesday.
In a statement issued here a JKLF spokesman said that Malik along with a delegation comprising zonal president Noor Muhammad Kalwal and zonal organizer Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri started his journey towards Redwani Kulgam where forces and police “killed an innocent youth, ransacked residential houses and shops, cane charged and injured innocent common people and unleashed a reign of terror.”
“Malik wanted to meet affected people and bereaved families of martyred but was stopped near Pantha Chowk and arrested along with other leaders,” he said.
Prior to his arrest Malik while strongly condemning the firing, teargas shelling and ransacking of residential houses and shops by forces under the garb of an encounter at Redwani Kulgam said, “Unleashing a reign of terror on common people shows the level of frustration rulers and their forces are suffering from.”
