A JKLF spokesman in a statement said that soon after his arrest, Yasin Malik was shifted to police station Kohtibagh from where he has been taken to Central Jail.
Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik was arrested by police at Batamaloo bus stand here on Monday while he was on way to Hyderpora where he was scheduled to meet the Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani.
A JKLF spokesman in a statement said that soon after his arrest, Yasin Malik was shifted to police station Kohtibagh from where he has been taken to Central Jail.
“From 25 May this year, Yasin Malik has been arrested six times by police and forces,” the spokesman said.
Meanwhile, in his message, the JKLF chairman said: “Now limit of shamelessness of the rulers has touched new low as they have chosen to ban even personal meetings between two people. By banning mutual meetings, the saffronised rulers have expressed their animosity against democratic and civilized behavior. This ban has in fact proved how much rulers and their authorities fear the unity among resistance leaders.”
Yasin Malik said: “The oppressive measures can’t deter us from pursuing the path of truth and freedom, and history is witness that tolerating the atrocities and bans has been our way of life from last many years.”
“Let the so-called rulers use their brute force to suppress our voices but they should know that this suppression and oppression can’t stop us from resisting their RSS-hatched conspiratorial anti-Kashmiri and anti-Muslim plots,” he added.
Meanwhile, Hurriyat Conference (G) condemned the detention of JKLF chairman and his shifting to the Srinagar Central Jail.
“The police have virtually banned the movement of the pro-freedom people and they are not even allowed to meet each other. It is worst kind of state oppression which should be condemned at every level,” Geelani, in a statement today said, adding that “This attitude of the authorities with the resistance leaders has no moral or constitutional justification and it will have very serious consequences.”
“This attitude of the government is increasing the political uncertainty and instability in the state and it can any time turn the situation uncontrollable. The pro-freedom leadership will not be scared by these pressure tactics and we will resist the anti-people policies of the RSS backed PDP government in every possible way,” Geelani said.
