LAHORE: Punjab’s first cancer hospital is set to open in Lahore, where patients would receive free cancer treatment, according to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
She ordered the relevant authorities to finish the first phase of the infirmary within a year after inspecting the planned hospital location near Valencia Town on Monday. She suggested that a hotel be constructed nearby for the use of the cancer sufferers’ companions.
“The first government hospital in Punjab will treat cancer patients for free. The greatest physicians and state-of-the-art equipment will be brought in by the cancer hospital to treat patients, the CM continued.
Maryam Nawaz was attended by ex-senator Pervaiz Rashid, MPAs Khawaja Salman Rafiq, Khawaja Imran Nazir, Sania Ashiq, and Dr. Adnan.
Former chief minister Mohsin Naqvi had before asserted that he had founded the first government-run cancer facility. In January, he officially opened the Mayo Cancer Care Hospital in Manawan and declared that all cancer patients will receive free care there.
