ISLAMABAD: Major General Ahmed Jasim Maarij, Head of Iraq Navy, along with his personal Staff Officers called on Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif to discuss areas of mutual interests and cooperation in the field of defence sector.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister offered Iraqi Armed Forces personnel to avail training courses in Pakistan Armed Forces Training Institutions.
Khawaja Asif suggested Port calls and PASSEXs between the two Navies in order to enhance interoperability.
He emphasized on need of On Job Training program in the field of Hydrography and employment of Pakistan Navy Survey Officers for establishing Hydrographic set up in Iraq.
Both sides shared the importance of reciprocal visits by delegations from armed forces personnel’s, especially for training and logistic establishments and defence products organizations may be planned to explore new avenues of mutual cooperation and collaboration.
The minister also offered PAF services for the development of IT infrastructure of the Iraqi Air Force as well as assistance in establishing a quality control program for the Iraq Air Force on the pattern of PAF.
Both sides also agreed on comprehensive intelligence and information sharing mechanism on terrorism between both the countries.
