Indian movie producer Vivek Agnihotri’s disputable title ‘The Kashmir Files’ has been whipped as ‘trash’ by the Public Honor winning chief.
The veteran Indian film director and screenwriter Saeed Akhtar Mirza has referred to “The Kashmir Files” as “garbage,” making it appear to be embroiled in yet another controversy.
Mirza, best known for the critically acclaimed film “Naseem,” criticized Vivek Agnihotri for being “inhuman” in his film during an interview with a local publication in the nation.
Mirza stated to the publication, “The Kashmir Files is garbage for me.” He went on to ask, “Is the Kashmiri Pandit issue a hoax?” It is not, no. It exists. Is it only the Hindus of Kashmir? No. Muslims are also caught in a very vulgar trap set up by intelligence agencies, countries with so-called national interests, and paid men from across the border, who keep wreaking havoc. It’s not important to pick sides. Be yourself and try to understand,” the director said in the end.
On Tuesday, Agnihotri posted a tweet in response to the statement. He wrote, “Maine kaha Mirza sahab ko Salaam,” after posting a screenshot of Mirza’s remarks on the microblogging platform. Fir milte hain Janaab, The Delhi Documents ke baad (I express, welcome to Mirza sir. Let’s get together once more after The Delhi Files. 2024.” The fictional story of the Kashmiri Pandit community during the 1990s exodus from Indian-administered Kashmir is the focus of the drama film “The Kasmir Files.” Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumar, Pallavi Joshi, Chinmay Mandlekar, and Bhasha Sumbli make up the film’s main cast.
The film was directed by Vivek Agnihotri, who also co-wrote the plot with Saurabh Pandey. The film was the second most successful at the box office in 2022, but critics gave it mixed to negative reviews and accused it of “propagating Islamophobia.”
