KARACHI: Following a lengthy illness, Business Recorder Group deputy chief executive Arshad A. Zuberi passed away on Sunday.
His age was 72.
His wife and three children survive him.
The funeral prayers will be held in the Noorul Islam mosque, which is next to Zamzama Park in DHA, on Monday (today) at 1:30 p.m.
Arshad Zuberi graduated from the United States with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1973 and became Technical Director of the Business Recorder Group’s Apex Printry in 1974, according to his profile on the company’s website. He was in charge of printing bank paperwork securely.
In 1981, he took over as publisher and printer of Business Recorder. When he was elevated to deputy chief executive in 1985, he was in charge of advertising, accounting, and administration.
Several times, Arshad Zuberi was the secretary general of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society. In addition, he served as the Pakistan Broadcasters Association’s (PBA) first secretary general and founding member.
Civil society, journalistic organizations, and high government officials all expressed their condolences for his passing.
PBA members and employees released a statement expressing their profound sadness and sympathies for Mr. Zuberi’s untimely death.
“Arshad Zuberi was a highly esteemed member of the Board and played a significant role in addressing numerous challenges that the broadcasters encountered during his various terms in the PBA executive committee. The PBA statement further said, “PBA members praised his services and prayed to Almighty Allah to grant him eternal peace and his family the strength to bear this irreparable loss.”
