SUKKUR: A joint investigation team (JIT) has been formed by the Sindh home department to investigate the police’s inability to find or even recover Priya Kumari, a minor girl who vanished on August 19, 2021, while she was with her father and bringing water to mourners on Ashura eve in the Sangrar town of Salehpat taluka in the Sukkur district.
When she vanished, she was approximately seven years old. Her parents thought she had been abducted even though there didn’t seem to be any evidence that she had been abducted by criminals.
The home department formed the JIT to resolve the issue logically after several nationalist groups and civil society organizations brought it up in their recently organized public rallies, which were staged in a number of the province’s cities and villages.
The head of the Mirpurkhas DIG Javed Jiskani, two DSPs, Hyderabad SSP Amjad Shaikh, and Shaheed Benazirabad SSP Tanveer Tunio make up the five-person JIT.
