KARACHI: On Thursday, a judicial magistrate released five college students who had been detained on Wednesday for allegedly engaging in aerial shooting during what the police had dubbed “batch bunk” in the Seaview neighborhood.
Before Judicial Magistrate (South) Mazhar Ali, the investigating officer presented the five suspects, Bilal Akhund, Jabber Khan, Muzammil, Rajab Ali, and Shaheer Khan, requesting a 14-day physical remand so that additional investigation could be conducted.
The court was told by the IO that they needed to capture their collaborators.
Defense attorneys, on the other hand, moved to reject the plea and requested bail, arguing that the offenses qualified for bail.
The court released the detained pupils on bond in exchange for a Rs 20,000 surety bond from each of them.
The five students have been charged in connection with aerial fire, reckless driving, etc., together with about 600–700 other people.
As part of their ‘batch bunk’ strategy, hundreds of male and female students from private educational institutions in DHA flocked to the Seaview area on February 28 in their cars and SUVs. They blocked the main road for traffic in the morning and some of them even used aerial shooting.
