KARACHI: On Thursday morning, a fast-moving Shehzore truck lost control due to a ruptured tire and crashed with a car in the DHA area, injuring nine people and killing a young man, according to police and rescuers.
According to DIG-South Syed Asad Raza, the morning collision happened at a major traffic crossroads in Phase VIII.
He reported that Aminuddin, the driver of the Audi, was unharmed in the collision.
According to him, a tyre burst, collided with the car, and caused the truck to lose control and overturn. Up to ten people were hurt in the vehicle, including the driver, and one of them—later identified as 20-year-old Aftab Hasan—died.
The police arrived at the scene quickly after learning of the occurrence, transporting the deceased and injured to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal procedures.
Both the truck and the automobile were seized by the police pending additional legal actions. They added that after being taken to the Sahil police station, the injured people and the driver of the car had their statements taken.
The driver of the Audi, who was reportedly the CEO of an insurance company, was let to leave, according to the police.
On the basis of their statements, the DIG declared that more legal action will be taken. According to him, there was no installed closed-circuit television camera.
To ascertain the reason behind the mishap, the police claimed to be “analyzing” statements and supporting documentation.
The casket for the deceased’s funeral was transported from Shikarpur, where he was born.
Among the injured were Shoaib, Tariq, Najamuddin, Husain Ali, Mashooq Ali, Qadir Ahmed, and Ghulam Shabbir.
