GENEVA: In Geneva, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke with Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), and Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz.
Monday, PM Shehbaz co-chaired a conference in Geneva to help mobilize international support for Pakistan’s faster recovery from the recent floods. As it scrambles to raise funds to rebuild the devastated 33 million people and repair billions of dollars’ worth of damage, Pakistan was able to secure flood pledges totaling $10.7 billion, well above the $8 billion target.
In the meeting, where Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar was also present, PM Shehbaz spent a lot of time talking about party matters as well as the political situation in Pakistan as a whole, particularly the situation in Punjab.
Maryam will have complete discretion over party-related decisions. By the end of this month, she will arrive in Pakistan.
According to reliable sources, the Sharif brothers met at a dinner. PM Shehbaz trusted Nawaz based on his meetings with international leaders and the positive response to the international conference. Shehbaz inquired about Maryam and congratulated her on becoming senior vice president of the PML-N.
In light of the coalition government led by the PTI’s decision to dissolve the provincial assembly, the two also discussed the situation in Punjab. Parvez Elahi, the chief minister of Punjab, has agreed to do so.
According to sources, Nawaz Sharif issued the necessary directives to improve the country’s political and economic situation.
