NORTH WAZIRISTAN: Security forces in the tribal province of North Waziristan raided militant hideouts close to the Afghan border in the early hours of Sunday morning, killing at least 13 terrorists and injuring a number of others.
A key commander of the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was among the 13 militants killed and several others wounded in two separate actions that occurred in the Gazum Mandi area of North Waziristan’s Shawal tehsil, according to sources, despite the absence of an official statement from Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Locals claimed that the assaults were carried out on various terrorist hideouts in the region and that one of the dead was a prominent TTP leader who was allegedly responsible for several suicide attacks.
According to sources, the attacks also injured Abu Bakr, also known as Mohsin, and Gauhar, two further commanders.
After the security operation, locals said that a cloud of dark smoke rose from their hiding place. They said that a large number of militants left after leaving their collaborators’ bodies behind.
