ISLAMABAD: Pakistan hockey team Chief Coach and Olympian Tahir Zaman believes the Hockey-5 Championship will revolutionise the national sport in the country.
The inaugural Hockey-5 championship is being played at the National Hockey Stadium, Lahore under Floodlights.
Hockey-5, a faster version of the game, is considered equivalent of the Twenty20 cricket.
“After holding the first Hockey-5 championship, the event will be moved to schools in order to engage maximum youth in hockey activities,” he said.
Tahir said this event is very important for Pakistan hockey in the current circumstances as most of the junior players would participate in it.
“The same boys will go on a European tour and later participate in the Junior Hockey World Cup,” he said.
Zaman added that Hockey-5 championship can be played in grounds and astro-turfs.
