According to World Economic Forum (WEF), there will be over 20 Billion Connected Things globally by 2020. WEF has revealed a list of countries which are the biggest early-adopters of the Internet of Things. Moreover, South Korea has win the race as it has maximum number of connected devices.

According to data from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and search engine Shodan Koreans, Danish, and Swiss have more connected devices. There are top 10 countries at adopting the Internet of Things (IoT) with their achievements.
- South Korea has 37.9 connected devices per 100 people. The country has launched a dedicated IoT wireless network in 2016.
- Denmark has 32.7 connected devices per 100 people. Copenhagen put a sensors in waste bin and found that 70 % rubbish collection is unnecessary.
- Switzerland has 29 connected devices per 100 people. Moreover, SwissCom is rolling out a wireless network for IoT devices.
- United States has 24.9 connected devices per 100 people. The Federal government has spent almost $9 Billion on IoT in 2015.
- Netherlands has 24.7 connected devices per 100 people. First country in the world to roll out IoT network nationwide.
- Germany has 22.4 connected devices per 100 people. Hamburg is connecting parking spaces to make them easier to find.
- Sweden has 21.9 connected devices per 100 people. Moreover, Smart homes and buildings are part of the sustainability agenda.
- Spain has 19.9 connected devices per 100 people. Moreover, the IoT market size is set to reach € 66 Billion by 2020.
- France has 17.6 connected devices per 100 people. Then town of Angers has a public/private funded centre, which is home to 60 IoT firms.
- Portugal has 16.2 connected devices per 100 people. More connected devices than in the UK and Belgium.
South Korea has launched a dedicated IoT wireless network in 2016
Internet of thing is nothing new. It has the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction. Moreover, IoT has evolved from the convergence of wireless technologies, micro-electromechanical systems, microservices and the internet.
According to Global Information Technology Report 2016 (GITR), Pakistan is the World’s Most Affordable Country in ICT and Telecom Sector. However, GITR is the annual report published by World Economic Forum (WEF). According to that report, Pakistan’s technology and telecom market has the lowest price points as compared to other markets across the world.
