LAHORE: Army Chief Gen Raheel Sharif must have prepared his successors to ensure continuity of his policies after his retirement on due date, says S.M. Zafar.
“Martial laws were the result of political failures in the past,” he said at the 52nd conference of the Pakistan Visionary Forum held at TECH Society Club here on Sunday.
The conference on the issue of the army chief’s statement about his retirement and pressure on NAB chief was also attended by retired Justice Sharif Hussain Bokhari, former minister of state Qayyum Nizami, agriculture scientist Dr Muhammad Sadiq, former adviser Comsats Dr Hasibullah and Former DG Intelligence Bureau Shabbir Ahmed.
S.M. Zafar said Gen Raheel Sharif was a very determined man. He condemned the PML-N government for pressurising the NAB chief and said it should refrain from making any legislation to further trouble the institution.
Justice Bokhari said Gen Raheel had successfully ensured security in the country, while Qayyum Nizami said the people of Pakistan loved the army chief due to his outstanding performance.
