GILGIT: The Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly called the suicide attack on Chinese citizens a plot to undermine ties between Pakistan and China and denounced it on Wednesday.
Swearing to defend the CPEC and Chinese people, the MPs passed a resolution with unanimous support.
The resolution was tabled by opposition leaders Kazim Mesum, Wazir Saleeem, and Javed Ali Manwa during the session conducted by Deputy Speaker Sadia Danish.
The resolution added that attacks at the start and finish of the CPEC route are concerning and denounced the suicide attack on Chinese residents in Bisham and the terrorist strike on a navy installation at Turbat in Balochistan.
It honored everyone who gave their life to fight terrorism with the utmost respect.
Sohail Abbas Shah, the GB Minister for Law, addressed the matter and proposed that the resolution be proclaimed unanimous.
Manwa, a member of the opposition, claimed that the attack on Chinese nationals during IMF loan negotiations appeared to be intended to deter foreign investment in Pakistan.
Mr. Mesum demanded action to stop similar occurrences in the future.
Subsequently, the chair declared that the resolution had been approved by all votes.
In the meantime, GB’s political and religious leaders, parliamentarians, governor Syed Mehdi Shah, and chief minister Haji Gulbar Khan denounced the terrorist attack on Chinese citizens.
The chief minister stated in a statement that anti-national forces were attempting to undermine Pakistan’s progress and stability.
