KOHAT: On Monday, hundreds of ladies protested gas disruptions by closing Rawalpindi Road close to Bahawalnagar.
The women who were protesting claimed that home consumers only received gas supply for three hours per day. They reported that there was also very little gas pressure. They claimed that their bills were raised even though there were protracted gas disruptions.
They claimed that many were quite resentful of gas interruptions and high prices. According to them, home customers received gas bills ranging from Rs 16,000 to Rs 25,000 for the preceding month. They shouted abuse at the district government for failing to try to get the commodity back into regular supply for home customers.
The women in protest claimed that for the previous four months, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL) had been supplying them with gas three times a day—in the morning, at midday, and in the evening. They claimed that gas pressure was really low. They claimed that because of gas load shedding, they were unable to make breakfast for their school-age children in the morning.
An additional assistant commissioner was dispatched by the district administration to negotiate with the irate demonstrators. The officer gave the women who were protesting a smooth stream of gas. The demonstrators were given the guarantee, and they left in peace. For over an hour, the route was closed.
