KARACHI: Funeral prayers for singer-turned-preacher Junaid Jamshed, who died in PK-661 crash last week, will be offered in Karachi on Thursday, his brother Humayun Jamshed said.
The brother of the late preacher said the funeral prayers will be offered at Moin Khan Academy in Karachi’s Defence area on Thursday.
Humayun Jamshed reached Islamabad on Wednesday to collect his brother’s body. He said Junaid Jamshed’s funeral prayers will also be offered at Noor Khan air base in Rawalpindi.
The body of Junaid Jamshed’s wife Nahya has been transferred from DHQ Hospital, Rawalpindi to Lahore.
Meanwhile, Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman arrived at Jamshed’s residence here on Tuesday and offered his condolences to Humayun Jamshed over tragic demise of his brother and sister-in-law among 47 victims of the crash.
On Tuesday, a team of investigators from French company ATR visited the PK-661 crash site near Havelian, Abbottabad. The team comprising French and Canadian nationals had arrived in Islamabad on Monday.
The investigators collected samples for forensic testing during their visit to the crash site. The team is working alongside officials from the Pakistan International Airlines’ Safety Investigation Board.
On Wednesday, December 07, the ATR-42 aircraft of the PIA crashed into the hillside near Havelian area of district Abbottabad, killing all 42 passengers and five crew members onboard.
Junaid Jamshed, once a Pakistani music icon who later turned preacher, was also aboard the flight along with his wife.
