PESHAWAR: In charges filed against them, the Peshawar High Court on Monday granted the transit bail requests of four PTI figures, including Ali Amin Gandapur, the party’s nominee for the position of provincial chief minister, Senator Faisal Javed, and the incoming members of parliament, Shahram Khan Tarakai and Atif Khan.
Chief Justice Ibrahim Khan heard the PTI leader’s bail application during which Syed Sikandar Shah, Shah Faisal Utmankhel, Nomanul Haq Kakakhel, and Inam Yousafzai represented their client. The client requested to appear in court in Islamabad regarding a case that the local police had filed against him under sections 395, 380, 440, 435, 506, 427, 186, 353, 148, and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code as well as Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
It was an old case, Justice Khan noted. The attorneys claimed they had only learnt about the case and had hurried to get transit bail from the court.
CJ Khan questioned attorneys on the acceptance of their clients’ bail requests in earlier cases.
In response, the attorney stated that bail had already been granted to the petitioners in 24 instances. The court granted Mr. Gandapur’s request for transit bail and directed him to provide Rs. 100,000 in surety bonds.
Additionally, Senator Faisal Javed’s application for transit bail was approved.
Shah Faisal Ilyas, the petitioner’s attorney, told the court during the hearing that his client was the subject of a case filed at the Banigala police station under PPC sections 427, 506, 147, and 149. He continued by saying that the petitioner had also been arrested for other offenses in other areas of the federal capital.
According to him, the petitioner desired to attend in court but was afraid of being detained by law enforcement while traveling there.
The PTI senator’s appeal for transit bail was granted by the court.
Additionally, MNAs-elect Atif Khan and Shahram Tarakai’s requests for travel bail in cases filed against them for suspected corruption, irregular recruiting, and other offenses were accepted by a high court bench made up of Justices Atiq Shah and Waqar Ahmad Khan until February 26. They were told to show up in front of the appropriate courts.
