MOSCOW: Four persons were murdered by Ukrainian shelling on Monday close to Belgorod, Russia’s border city; as a result, 15 people have died in the area since last week, according to authorities.
As Russia finishes off elections that might keep President Vladimir Putin in office until at least 2030, attacks on Russian territory have gotten more intense in recent days.
Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov declared, “A direct shell hit on a private residential house resulted in the deaths of four people in the village of Nikolskoye.”
Gladkov stated, “Rescuers recovered the bodies of two more women from under the rubble.” He had earlier posted that a male and a 17-year-old boy had perished from their wounds.
In addition to earlier data made public by Belgorod’s health authorities, at least 15 fatalities have occurred in the area since last Tuesday.
The Kremlin, which has been eager to minimize the effects of its offensive in Ukraine on the Russian people, has expressed displeasure and disgust over the attacks.
Pro-Ukrainian militias, claiming to have taken over a village, launched a series of blatant cross-border incursions against Russia’s border regions last week.
Following his victory in reelection, Putin stated at a press conference that he was thinking of establishing a “sanitary zone” in the Ukrainian area that borders Belgorod in order to stop further attacks.
Given the sad events of today, Putin stated, “I do not rule out that, at some point, when we deem it appropriate, we will be forced to create a certain’sanitary zone’ on today’s territories subordinate to the Kyiv regime.”
