RAWALPINDI: Four foreign nationals convicted in drug-related offences were deported to their home countries after their sentences were served in the Adiala Central Jail on Sunday.
The deportees were from Iraq, Zambia, Ghana and Nigeria. According to prison department officials, they were convicted in drug cases and had completed the sentences awarded by the relevant courts. The Punjab home department then issued directives to have them deported to their home countries.
All four were deported from the Benazir Bhutto International Airport amid tight security, and were handed over to Federal Investigation Agency officials to be deported.
Mohammad Ibrahim, an Iraqi national, was arrested by Kohsar police on Aug 21, 2012. Muhamba Chikonga, from Zambia, was booked by the Anti Narcotics Force in Sialkot on Jan 9, 2014.
Afatina, a Ghanaian national, was booked by the ANF in Rawalpindi on Sept 13, 2015, while Uchi Lilian, from Nigeria, was booked by the ANF in Rawalpindi on Apr 19, 2015 in a drug smuggling case.
