PESHAWAR: Following negative tests for the zoonotic illness, all four of the mpox patients in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have recovered and been released from isolation.
According to a statement released on Sunday by the health department, patient screening at Bacha Khan International Airport and the Pak-Afghan border at Torkham will continue as usual. However, patients who had been placed in isolation at the Services Hospital and at their homes were released from isolation after testing negative.
The statement continued, “Hospitals will send the symptomatic patients for tests as part of strong surveillance and other protocols will remain in place.”
According to Dr. Irshad Roghani, director of public health, the Khyber Medical University, the department’s employees, and the public health reference laboratory all contributed significantly to the identification and treatment of the mpox cases.
According to him, surveillance has been bolstered even more to make sure that no patient enters the community and spreads the infection.
Mr. Roghani stated, “Health workers were able to identify the suspected people in a timely manner thanks to a very strong monitoring system put in place.” “Those patients would have infected more people in their homes and neighborhoods if they had returned to their home villages.”
In addition, Mr. Roghani acknowledged the role the church had played in raising awareness of the zoonotic illness’s causes and expressed the hope that their collaboration would result in a province free of disease.
