The Chinese company, Ehang has fulfilled its promise from the headlines made a couple of years ago of an autonomous passenger drone soaring across fields and oceans after releasing a clip of the drone’s first test flight.
Footage released of the company’s latest creation shows the Ehang 184 autonomous passenger drone in full swing during its test run in the Chinese city of Guangzhou, weathering all extreme conditions such as typhoon-level winds, forceful maneuvers and lofty altitude climbs.
With single and double seat models, the drone had the Ehang CEO and founder Hu Huazhi hopped in the cabin and maneuvered the first flight herself.
As per reports, the aircraft is run entirely on electric batteries and has the competence to carry one person weighing not more than 100 kilograms.
The company has avowed that the drone can fly at an altitude of 500 meters and at a maximum speed of 100 kilometers per hour for 25 minutes.
Ehang has tackled safety concerns by ratifying as well as demonstrating the drone’s potential of enduring squalls of winds of up to 50 kilometers per hour.
