Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Farooq Sattar who was released from Rangers detention on Tuesday packed his clothes in a vehicle parked outside his residence and reached a local hotel.
He is meeting senior MQM leaders at the hotel, sources confirmed. The senior leader is expected to address an important press conference later today.
Senior leader Farooq Sattar, who returned to his residence today after spending a night in Rangers custody, said that he will hold an important press conference where he will share details from last night with the public. He however declined to comment on yesterday’s events for now.
Meanwhile, a Geo News correspondent reported that Farooq Sattar’s clothes including his coats and ties, were being packed into a vehicle parked outside his residence.
Speaking to the media outside his residence Farooq Sattar said that he will continue MQM’s mission and spread the message forward.
Farooq Sattar, Khawaja Izhar, Dr Aamir Liaquat and some other party workers were nabbed by Rangers from Karachi Press Club yesterday when they were coming to address a press conference following MQM party workers’ attack on media houses in Karachi – an action incited by MQM chief Altaf Hussain’s inflammatory speech during the hunger strike organized by the party at Press Club.
According to sources, around 50 MQM workers were detained by law enforcement agencies following yesterday’s violence. The detained leaders included Farooq Sattar, Khawaja Izharul Hassan, Arshad Vohra, Khawaja Sohail and Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain.
Altaf Hussain’s speech to participants in the hunger strike incited party workers to take to the streets yesterday, ransack media houses and vandalize property. At least one person died and eight others were injured during the violent attacks in which around 2,000 party workers participated.
