It will take months together for the recovery of Muhammad Iqbal Sheikh (30) of Mochu Budgam who received bullets in legs when Central Reserve Police Force opened fire on his car at Budshah Chowk on September 7.
Iqbal is writhing in pain in Ward 6 of SKIMS here. Doctors said Iqbal has received one bullet each in his legs. Right leg is totally broken.
“He will recover, but it will take months together,” said a team of doctors treating him. “He has lost lot of blood,” the doctors said adding that Iqbal will have to go for plastic surgery later. Narrating the incident, Iqbal said, “There was some damage to my car as an Ambassador crossed the light and hit my car. I was trying to park my car to demand penalty for damage when the CRPF men fired at me.”
“After firing in one leg, they (CRPF men) brought me down from the car and pumped another bullet in my other leg,” he said.
“I am unable to understand why they fired at me,” he added.
Iqbal said he wants that CRPF men who fired at him without any provocation should be punished.
Pertinently, when CRPF personnel opened fire on Iqbal’s car, he was accompanied by his mother and a relative girl. However the females had a close shave in the firing that triggered massive protests in the area.
“The CRPF personnel outside Akhara building opened direct fire at the vehicle, with bullets hitting Iqbal in legs,” eyewitness had said that day.
“No official from the government, other than CID cops, came to see me,” he said.
