KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, has asked the management of the KE to address public complaints without delay in view of very hot weather in the metropolis.
In a letter addressed to the chief executive of KE, the Commissioner said that effective steps be taken for improving the electricity supply system and protecting the lives of the people.
Siddiqui further stated that non-availability of electricity during Ramzan is very painful for the people.
He asked the management of the KE to streamline the power supply system and inquire into the causes for complaints pertaining to non-availability of electricity.
The Commissioner maintained that the KE did not come up with any load management plan for the month of Ramazan nor prepared any emergency plan during the extreme hot spells. He was of the view that the system of addressing complaints of the people also proved ineffective,
The Commissioner stressed that the KE should keep people informed about the electricity supply situation.
Copies of Commissioner’s letters have also been dispatched to Chief Secretary and the officials of federal and provincial governments besides Federal Secretary Water and Power, Chairman NEPRAN an Secretary Energy Department.
The Commissioner in his letter also pointed out that the LEAs in the light of instructions of the provincial government, are busy in Karachi Operation. Complaints of people regarding civic facilities and demonstration etc are making their task more challenging.
