ISLAMABAD: To finalize the establishment of a new coalition government, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif called a meeting of his party’s allies on Wednesday in the Center.
The PPP and PML-N were anticipated to announce their nominees by late Tuesday night for the coveted positions of speaker along with deputy speaker of the national and Balochistan assemblies, given their recent agreement to support one another in the federal government. However, no conclusion had been made in this regard prior to the submission of this report.
Today, on Wednesday, the PML-N is organizing a parliamentary party meeting. Nawaz Sharif, the party’s leader, and his younger brother Shehbaz will co-chair the meeting.
PML-N Senator Ishaq Dar stated in a press conference on Tuesday that “the PML-N president called a meeting of allied groups tomorrow at Punjab House where the the establishment of the new government will be discussed.”
According to Mustafa Kamal’s declaration, the PPP wishes to create government “without MQM-P.”
He stated that the PPP and the PML-N would put up joint candidates for speaker and deputy speaker of the national and Balochistan assemblies, in accordance with their agreement. He declared that both sides were determined to honor their agreement to help one another with the “functioning of the next government.”
Mr. Dar informed the media that the future alignment was decided at a meeting between the PML-N as well as PPP coordination committee members, accompanied by committee members. He said that his party has a well-defined plan for rescuing the nation from its current political and economic predicaments.
Mr. Dar declared that his party was willing to work toward peace, even with the PTI. “Despite the difficulties caused by the events of May 9, we are able to reconcile with the PTI,” he continued.
In an address to a press conference, JUI-F chairman Maulana Fazlur Rehman restated claims of rigging; nonetheless, the PML-N leader stated that his party was prepared to work with JUI-F in both Balochistan and the Center.
As per the deal, Shehbaz Sharif is expected to become the next prime minister and the PPP has declared its backing for the PML-N to establish its government.
The PML-N has won 75 of the 265 general seats in the NA, while the PPP has won 54. Despite receiving the greatest number of seats (93), independent candidates endorsed by the PTI chose not to form an alliance with either of the two mainstream parties. To create a government, 169 NA seats must be obtained.
The audio leak of Kamal
Leader of the MQM-P, Syed Mustafa Kamal, said in a video message that “an MQM-London spy” had made public an audio recording on which he was heard speaking during a party Rabita Committee meeting.
Verifying the information on the tape, he claimed he was updating the committee on the PPP’s assurance to the PML-N that they would not need the MQM-P’s assistance in establishing the government after they had agreed to do so.
He reported to the group that PPP had asserted that MQM had been “given a fake mandate.”
