KARACHI: The Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) asked on Tuesday that the Chief Justice of Pakistan take notice of the’systematic rigging’ in the February 8 general elections and guarantee rectification in accordance with Form 45s.
Addressing a press conference at the party’s Idara-i-Noor-i-Haq headquarters, JI-Karachi chief Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman raised significant concerns about Pakistan’s ‘democratic future’ and fiercely condemned ‘the fraudulent elections.’
He stated that the JI would hold an anti-election-rigging demonstration on February 24.
“We want the courts to hold a forensic examination of the polls in Karachi so as to reveal the truth,” he stated. He went on to say: “Those responsible for these scam elections must be determined, prosecuted and convicted.”
Hafiz Naeem also brought up the problem of intermediate results, urging government officials to take strong action against those guilty for manipulating the results. He stated that few grace marks could not make up for the departure of thousands of learners.
