KARACHI: Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, the chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), was charged by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) on Thursday with threatening traders in Karachi.
It maintained that the Muttahida had “only endured the biased Sindh government for the sake of democracy in the country” and urged the “authorities” to pay attention to the danger.
During a news conference, the top MQM-P leadership expressed their displeasure with the PPP chairman’s recent speech to Karachi businesspeople, in which he advised them to bring their complaints to him rather than to “other forums.”
During a luncheon for the city’s businesses, Mr. Bhutto-Zardari again defended his party’s record and reminded them of the circumstances in Karachi before to 2008, when the PPP took power.
The MQM-P ranks, on the other hand, were not pleased with the address since they perceived it as an open danger to the dealers.
Under the pretense of democracy, “a so-called artificial majority government” has been in power in Sindh for the last 15 years, according to MQM-P chairman Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.
He asserted that the Muttahida was the only urban Sindhi representative party that had been vocally opposing the province’s persistent injustices.
“Traders and industrialists have also been voicing their concerns in a similar manner,” he said.
We believed that the PPP chairman and the chief minister of Sindh would apologize for past injustices and announce corrective actions when they invited traders and businesspeople. Rather, the ruling class’s discourse was nothing short of dangerous. The fact that one group invests all of the resources and capacity to govern the province while another group controls all of the resources while holding less than 1% of the shares is a dreadful situation.
Karachi merchants were intimidated, according to senior party leader Mustafa Kamal, who claimed the authorities ought to take note.
He claimed that the chief of army staff had also heard the dealers’ and manufacturers’ worries and suggestions, which “offended certain individuals.”
“The business community has always been supported by the MQM Pakistan. “We have consistently fought for the well-being of our people,” he stated.
“The MQM-P has a very clear demand regarding all of these injustices in this metropolis and urban Sindh. We are certain that Pakistan’s survival and progress are ensured by the 27th Amendment to the Constitution. The PPP has fabricated the “Sindhi-Mohajir quotas,” which were actually the rural and urban quotas.
Dr. Farooq Sattar, another party leader, claimed that the PPP had “enslaved” Sindh as a whole and that every provincial institution and system of government was being impacted by its feudal mentality.
