THATTA: PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari announced on Sunday that the PPP will run Asif Ali Zardari for president, rejecting a power-sharing plan that would have divided the prime minister’s position between two parties.
Ishaq Dar, the head of the PML-N, claimed that although the PPP chairman had made the sharing time formula public, “that was a single component and there can be more formulas,” emphasizing that it was inappropriate to provide specifics about negotiations between the parties seeking to form the next government.
At a Yaum-i-Tashakur (Thanksgiving Day) rally in Thatta, Mr. Bhutto-Zardari declared, “I was told [by PML-N] that we’ll be the prime minister for three years and then you could assume the office of prime minister for the remaining two years.” The rally was held to celebrate the PPP’s election triumph in Sindh.
“I declined this. He responded, “I told you that this is not how I want to be prime minister.” “I would only take office as prime minister after the citizens of Pakistan have elected me.”
Mr. Bhutto-Zardari stated that the party had decided not to pursue any ministries and would instead proceed with “those who have asked for its votes,” without naming any specific individuals.
Insisting that the previous leader would fulfill his responsibility to diffuse political tension, he stated that his father, Mr. Zardari, would be the PPP’s choice for president.
“We have agreed that Zardari will be our presidential candidate in order to contain the fire that is raging throughout the nation. He added, “And when he assumes the position, he will put out this fire and save the provinces and the center.”
He added that the impending political and economic catastrophe had split society and that the nation needed a political organization that addressed people’s issues.
“Politicians and political parties ought to prioritize the welfare of the citizens of this nation over their own self-interest,” Mr. Bhutto-Zardari emphasized.
According to the former foreign minister, a PTI-backed nominee was engineered to defeat a PPP politician. He added that he would approach the proper forum and that he carried all of the Form 45s with him, but he “wouldn’t burn his personal house or use it to divide the country.”
According to him, the PPP has made the decision to gather and present party employees’ election grievances nationwide in the proper forums. “We will come to you and strike together if we are unsuccessful,” he declared.
