BAJAUR: Malik Khalid Khan, a local youth leader and independent candidate for election, was attacked by unknown individuals on Wednesday, according to witnesses and police in Mamond tehsil.
They claimed that on Tuesday night, unknown assailants used a hand grenade to attack the office in the Umary neighborhood. They did, however, claim that nobody was harmed because the office was unoccupied when the attack occurred.
From PK-19, Mr. Khalid has lost the poll on February 8.
The incident was also corroborated by Khalid Khan’s family, who said that the attackers were attempting to flee the scene shortly after they were attacked despite the efforts of the guards stationed at a nearby filling station.
Dawn was informed by the family and law enforcement sources that on January 30, the police neutralized an improvised explosive device, or IED, that was positioned along a route in the Bilot region with the intention of targeting Khalid Khan’s car during the election campaign.
There was no one who took credit for the bomb attack.
Authorities at the Mamond police station announced that they had opened a criminal investigation into the event.
