QUETTA: A bomb blast shook Sariab road, Quetta earlier this evening. The blast took place inside a bus that was carrying 20 passengers. 10 deaths have been confirmed so far, including the death of a child while the remaining passengers are said to be in critical condition.
The Frontier Corps (FC) personnel have surrounded the area and those wounded are being given medical care, while the Bomb Disposal Squad has also been summoned to examine the area. Muhammad Younis, Deputy Mayor of Quetta confirmed five people have been killed and as many injured who were being shifted to Bolan Medical Complex. “Dead and injured have been retrieved from the bus,” he said. He said usually 40 to 42 passengers travel in a bus like one that has been targeted in the attack.
Rescue personnel have confirmed that two children are among the dead. Police officials have said that more than 20 people have been injured. All the injured have been shifted to the hospital.
An emergency has been declared in the city’s hospitals, while traffic remains suspended on Saryab road. Balochistan Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti saidl the passengers were not pilgrims, who have long been targeted in militant attacks in the past.
The registration number of the bus has been confirmed as BSA-348.
