SHANGLA/SWAT/DI KHAN: On Monday night, a mini jeep in the Bar Batkot region of Bisham tehsil of Shangla district crashed down a steep gorge, killing six members of the family and injuring three more.
Iqbal Rawan, a resident of the Bar Batkot region, was returning home with his family from the Maira area on Monday night when the jeep they were riding in slid into a steep gorge, according to SHO Mohammad Arif Khan of the Dandai police station. He said that three other members of Iqbal’s family were hurt in the accident, and that five ladies died instantly along with Iqbal.
According to SHO Arif, the accident happened in a mountainous area with poorly maintained roads and a malfunctioning cell phone network. According to him, locals removed the injured and dead from the gorge and transported them to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Bisham.
He later added that the victims were transferred in serious condition to Ayub Medical Complex in Abottabad. He added that families received the bodies.
Iqbal Rawan, Tasvisa, Namriqa, Naza Bibi, Jan Zari, and Muslima Bibi were named by the police as the deceased, while Navida Bibi, Muflika Mehak, 3, and Zarshed Khan were recognized as the injured.
In the meantime, on Tuesday in the Narkat neighborhood of Matta tehsil, a rickshaw collapsed, leaving four people dead and as many injured.
Relatives from the Buner district had traveled to Bagh Dherai to offer their condolences, according to Matta police. From there, they rode a rickshaw to their relative’s house in the Narkat neighborhood.
Four people were killed, according to reports, when the LPG gas cylinder inside the three-wheeler caught fire and the vehicle lost control. It then crashed into a ditch. They were identified as Shakirullah, a resident of Kalakot, Socha, 60, Sajidullah, 20, and Bakhtzada, all of Buner.
After suffering severe injuries, Bakhtai, Umar Ali, Fayaz, and two-year-old Nisar were taken to a hospital for treatment.
On Tuesday, a van and a mini-truck crashed on Dera-Daraban Road in Dera Ismail Khan, resulting in the death of a Levies man and the injuries of four others.
