QUETTA: To fully restore the Constitution, strengthen elected parliament, and guarantee free and fair elections, a six-party alliance of opposition parties is planned, following in the footsteps of a multi-party opposition platform lead by the PTI.
Awami National Party (ANP) President Aimal Wali made this announcement on Sunday at a press conference alongside Dr. Malik Baloch, the president of the National Party, Kushal Khan Kakar, the head of the Pashtunkhwa National Party, Abdul Khaliq Hazara, the chair of the Hazara Democratic Party, and other political party representatives.
On the event were also President Ahmed Jan Khan of the National Democratic Movement (NDM) and Senator Maulana Abdul Wasey of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F).
“It is imperative that a new political alliance be formed,” Senator Wali declared. He went on to say that the alliance will not only identify Balochstan’s problems but also work to find a consensus among political groups and gain the trust of the populace.
The senator claims that at a joint meeting of the six political parties on Sunday, it was resolved to form a new alliance and that a committee consisting of six members had been established to initiate the process and finalize the details of the proposed alliance.
Senator Aimal Wali Khan stated, “The committee will reach out to the people from all segments of society, political and social organizations at provincial and national level…for the formation of a new political alliance.” He went on to say that the proposed alliance would start a movement for resolving the issues the nation is facing at the provincial and national levels.
He clarified that the movement would not be related to the elections and that its goal would be to “liberate Pakistan from slavery and empower the people,” not to overthrow or reinstate any political party.
The coalition would begin its political efforts in Balochistan after it was formed, then expand to include the rest of the nation. “No one is to be punished or freed from prison by this partnership. Upholding the Constitution is its goal, he stated.
The ANP senator claimed that although the issue of missing individuals was prevalent among the Baloch and Pakhtun tribes, “resources were being seized on the pretext of security.” He pledged, “We will not back down from these points in any way; the six-party alliance will not compromise on any point.”
