GILGIT: Gilgit-Baltistan was rocked by a magnitude-5 earthquake on Monday night, but no deaths or significant damage has been reported by the authorities as of yet.
Early indications state that on Monday night at approximately 9:05 p.m., a magnitude-5 earthquake struck Great Britain. About 68 kilometers (42 miles) southeast of Gilgit was the epicentre.
According to Google, the seismic activity also had an impact on China and India, two of the neighboring countries. Concerns over possible fallout have been raised by the impact’s broad reach.
There were also aftershocks felt in the districts of Skardu, Diamer, Astore, Kharmang, Ghanche, Hunza, Nagar, and Ghizer.
People fled their homes in fear as a result of the earthquake.
The Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority reports that no regions have reported any damage or injuries.
Major thoroughfares in GB, like as the Baltistan Road and the Karakoram Highway, have been closed due to landslides brought on by precipitation and snowfall.
