After an hours-long, severe traffic gridlock at the Sindh Governor House in Karachi amid increased security on Tuesday, the traffic has finally cleared.
The leader of the Bohra community arrived at the Sindh Governor House at the same time as the blockage.
Ziauddin Ahmed Road, Deen Muhammad Wafai Road, and Sarwar Shaheed Road were reopened for traffic, according to a Karachi Traffic Police advisory sent at 8:53 p.m.
According to the statement, traffic was “normal and moving as per routine” on II Chundrigar, Shaheen Chowk, Khajoor Chowk, Ziauddin Ahmed Road, Aiwan-i-Sadr Road, PIDC Chowk, and the surrounding areas.
Upon observing the previous traffic predicament, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah directed the district, traffic, and administrative police to reopen the highways to traffic.
Along with improving traffic management in the city, he also commanded that reports be sent to the CM Secretariat following the opening of the roadways.
Ziauddin Ahmed Road, Deen Muhammad Wafai Road, and Sarwar Shaheed Road were closed to traffic, according to an earlier advisory at 6:02 p.m., although it didn’t specify why.
Traffic at II Chundrigar, Shaheen Chowk, Khajoor Chowk, Ziauddin Ahmed Road, Aiwan-i-Sadr Road, PIDC Chowk, and the adjacent regions was reportedly delayed as a result.
It was rerouting traffic through other routes, according to the police.
The Chief Minister House is situated on Ziauddin Ahmed Road, whilst the Governor House is situated on Aiwan-i-Sadr Road.
A staff member of Dawn.com also noticed a strong police and security presence at the Governor House’s numerous gates on Aiwan-i-Sadr road.
Subsequently, the spiritual head of the Bohra community, Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, was interviewed by Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori.
