In November 2011, Edhi sahab was recommended for a Nobel Peace prize by the Pakistani Prime MinisterYousaf Raza Gillani. Abdul Sattar Edhi suffered renal failure as announced on 26 June 2013 at SIUT and needs kidney donation.
Unfortunately, Edhi was facing severe kidney issues and his health condition makes kidney transplantation impossible. He used to visit SUIT for dialysis to improve his health but his health was getting worst and due to it he was admitted in ICU. From last few weeks Edhi sahab’s health was getting suspicious, however, nation was praying for his speedy recovery and long life. In 8th July, 2016 evening he was transferred to Ventilator due to shortness of breath and unfortunately, after few hours we heard the tragic news of his death.
The nation mourns over the heartbreaking news of Edhi sahab. Because we know that Pakistan won’t have another Edhi. He was a Ray of hope and Guardian of orphans of Pakistan. Not even Pakistanis, whole world is paying tribute to him for serving humanity. This land may not produce another one like you Mr. Edhi. His eyes has been donated as per his will.
His last words were:
–Bury me in same clothes, donate all my body parts, make sure my clothes are distributed among others.
—Take care of the poor people of my country.
–An angel sent from heaven to serve humanity is going to be buried, forever!
