ISLAMABAD – The court granted bail to Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) Chairperson Asiya Andrabi for the third time in the past 10 days while police refused to release her after lodging a fresh case against her.
Magistrate, Bashir Ahmad Munshi granted bail to Aasiya Andrabi in a fake case registered against her in 2009 under the Arms Act and ordered her release.
“The bail order was presented to the jail authorities but she was not released,” her counsel advocate Mir Shafaqat told media men, adding she has been implicated in another fake case registered against her this year in Nowhatta police station, Kashmir media service reported.
Meanwhile, a DeM spokesperson in a statement in Srinagar condemned the action by the authorities.
“The attitude of the authorities was beyond understanding as they are playing dirty games.
Asiya Andrabi is a popular and reputed leader but the authorities are behaving as if she is a criminal; this is unacceptable,” the spokesperson deplored.
She said that RSS and its allies wanted to curb all the credible voices, create an atmosphere of fear and further suppress the browbeaten and oppressed people of Kashmir.
