SUKUR/RAHIM YAR KHAN: On Wednesday afternoon, Nasrullah Gadani, a reporter for a Sindhi publication, was flown by air ambulance to Karachi in extremely severe condition. The family had decided to go despite their advice, according to medical professionals at the Sheikh Zayed Medical College Hospital (SZMCH).
On Tuesday, while traveling to the town on his two-wheeler, Gadani was attacked by unknown assailants on motorcycles close to Korai Goth, which is 12 kilometers from Mirpur Mathelo. The attackers inflicted significant bullet wounds on Gadani. Gadani was taken by police to the Mirpur Mathelo hospital, where medical professionals gave him emergency care before sending him right away for surgery at Rahim Yar Khan.
The journalist’s family received assistance on Wednesday from benefactor Saad Edhi in moving Gadani to Karachi via the Edhi air ambulance. Rana Ilyas Ahmed, the deputy medical superintendent of SZMCH, stated that no representatives from the governments of Sindh or Punjab had been in touch with the hospital’s management regarding the patient.
According to sources, the physicians attempted to warn the journalist’s family against moving him to Karachi in such a dangerous situation, but the family disregarded their advise. As per the sources, Gadani’s health started to worsen in Rahim Yar Khan, thus he was rushed to Aga Khan Hospital as soon as he arrived in Karachi.
SSP office protest
To express their outrage about the attack on the journalist, a sizable group of journalists, as well as Gadani’s family, fans, and members of nationalist groups, organized a sit-in in front of the SSP office in Mirpur Mathelo.
