ISLAMABAD: A sectoral roadmap and export-promoting policies have been suggested by the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Commerce.
MNA Muhammad Jawed Hanif Khan presided over the committee meeting, which examined how well earlier suggestions were being implemented.
The performance of the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) was also assessed by the committee.
Secretary of Commerce Jawad Paul told the committee that Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan also convened internal meetings to discuss sector-specific plans in order to emphasize the importance of sectoral consultations for export development and competitiveness.
The committee suggested that at the following meeting, a proposal pertaining to the sectoral export strategy be prepared and presented.
At the same time, the committee was instructed to be briefed by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan after taking into account its views.
In order to collect unpaid debts owed to the federal and provincial governments, the TCP chairman asked the committee for assistance. The suggestion was well received by the committee.
The committee established a new subcommittee, which was chaired by Khurshid Ahmed Junejo and included Muhammad Mobeen Arif, Usama Ahmed Mela, and Asad Alam Niazi.
