RAHIM YAR KHAN: Some carriages of a down cargo train derailed within Dera Nawab Sahib as well as Kulab stations on the railway on Tuesday evening at Rahim Yar Khan, bringing rail traffic to a halt on both the upward and downward tracks after 6 p.m.
The Yousufwala 9041 down goods train, which was heading toward Karachi and was moving between Kulab railway station per Dera Nawab Sahib railway station, derailed while changing over from single line functioning to the down line, as stated by Pakistan Railways Samasata Head Train Examiner (HTE) Muhammad Shahid.
During the crossover, a wagon broke apart, causing the derailment. Because rail traffic was suspended on both main tracks, five distinct up and down trains were halted at different railway stops. The 11-Up Hazara Express at Rahim Yar Khan, the 13-Up Awap Express at Sadiqabad, the 38-Down Fareed Express at Dera Nawab Sahib, and the 27-Up Shalimar Express at Khanpur railway station were all stopped.
Carriage Wagon Inspector Mahar Shauket of Pakistan Railways’ Multan division notified Dawn that the relief effort to relocate the cargo train off the main railway track has started. It was reported that restoration work on a rescue train will shortly begin. He continued, saying that the top goal is to free up the main track so that all passenger trains can leave as soon as possible.
