ISLAMABAD: The president has called new sessions of both houses of parliament for Monday and Tuesday, respectively, but they are expected to be overshadowed by the third round of discussions between the government and the PTI.
The Senate session is scheduled to start on January 14 at 4 p.m., while the NA session will start on Monday at 5 p.m.
The PTI negotiation team will meet with NA Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Monday after meeting with PTI jailed founder Imran Khan on Sunday. Prior to the start of the session, the team will submit the party’s written requests to the speaker.
The lower house is anticipated to echo the PTI’s demands, and the talks matter will take up the majority of the session. The government’s answer to the PTI’s demands in parliament will determine the outcome of the upcoming round of negotiations.
Addressing human trafficking concerns, proposing legislation to reform the human rights and women’s rights acts, and talking about the NFC Award’s implementation are all on the NA agenda.
The National Commission for Human Rights Act, 2025, the National Commission on the Status of Women Act, 2025, and the third bill to amend the National Commission on the Status of Women Act, 2025 are the three measures introduced by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar.
The second biennial report on monitoring the implementation of the NFC Award for the January–June 2022 period will be presented to the National Assembly by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.
Additionally, the law minister will present a motion thanking the president of Pakistan for his speech to both houses.
Furthermore, in a calling attention notice, Sahibzada Sibghatullah will draw the attention of the Minister for National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination to an urgent public concern concerning the inability of private teaching hospitals in ISLAMADEH to offer free or reduced medical care to those in need, as mandated by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council. This is especially true of trust hospitals.
